Selling on a Budget

Getting into selling sports cards or Pokémon cards doesn’t have to be expensive. In fact, you can set yourself up with everything you need for under $20.
Selling on a Budget
Start at your local dollar store. Most carry all the basics for shipping cards safely. Grab some packing tape (either the standard roll or the version with the built-in teeth), painter’s tape to secure your cards without damaging them, and a pack of envelopes. That’s about $4 total.
From there, you’ll want a pack of penny sleeves ($1.50) and top loaders ($4). If you prefer card savers, you can use those too, but thin cardboard works as a budget-friendly substitute. Altogether, you’re sitting at roughly $9.50 in supplies.
Once you’re stocked up, it’s time to list your cards. The time it takes varies depending on your collection, but if you have a lot, using a tool like Card Dealer Pro is a massive time-saver. It costs $9/month, but comes with a one-week free trial! CDP lets you list to eBay, Whatnot, CollX, and Shopify all in one place.
When a card sells, simply print your label, tape it to the envelope with two strips of packing tape, then secure your toploaded card to a card saver or piece of cardboard. Add one last piece of tape over the front of the envelope so nothing shifts or opens in transit, and your budget shipping setup is complete.
Starting small doesn’t mean starting slow. Sell smart, ship safely, and keep more of your profits in your pocket!
